I am a freelance sailing instructor, what can I do during Lockdown, will I get paid and when can I work again?
As with many industries, we sailing instructors, often freelance and self-employed, find ourselves in worrying times. For most, at least half a season’s work was cancelled overnight when the Government announced Lockdown on 23 March 2020 with currently only speculation as to when we can return to work. During these times there are however a number of things we can be doing to keep our minds active and best prepare ourselves to return to doing what we love.
Am I allowed to go down to my boat or go out on the water during Lockdown?

With lockdown likely to continue and the Easter weather ever improving the question on many of our minds is whether or not we are allowed to get out on the water or in fact visit our boats during lockdown.

How do I service the winches on my boat?
In this video blog I go through how to complete a full winch service on board your boat. I focus on the servicing of the Harken 40 2-Speed Secondary winch and the slightly larger Harken 44 2-Speed Primary winches we have on board our Jeanneau Sunfast 37 Yachts. Both of these are self-tailing winches.
